If you are interested in Mediterranean Studies as I am, you will be happy to receive a link to the newest issue of I.S. Med., Interdisciplinary Studies on the Mediterranean (Vol. 3.1), a journal that I co-founded and direct together with a Sicilian colleague, Dr. Rosario Pollicino. There are two issues per year, including an average of 7-8 articles per issue, an interview, and a series of book reviews. The journal aims at filling a gap in research by producing an interdisciplinary dialogue about the Mediterranean in the modern and contemporary eras. The Mediterranean is here understood as a geo-cultural space spanning across national borders and expressed in humanities, social studies, art, media, pop culture, socio-linguistics and creative writing.
I am also happy to share that the journal is connected with an annual symposium. We have already offered 4 symposia, in different locations (Ortigia, Dubrovnik, and Palermo - one was online during our not so stable world in 2021-2022). We are looking forward to preparing for our fifth meeting which will be co-sponsored by the University of Seville, Spain. The symposium is open to all scholars interested in and working on the Mediterranean, though space is limited. Our goal is to create a sense of community and an environment conducive to professional collaborations.
